10 Movie Franchises That Actually Ended On A High

5. Harry Potter

Like the books before them, Harry Potter's films came in at exactly the right time, proceeding to grow up with an entire generation of moviegoers. The tale of the most unassuming of children learning that they're not only a wizard, but one of high regard and renown - simply by virtue of being alive - resonated with fans regardless of medium.

I mean, it helped that even the weaker entries in the film series always had top tier talent behind them. And the final film, Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2, are no exception.

Being comprised of seven films telling a continuous story - a record that wouldn't be matched until the MCU got into high gear - the pressure was high not only on Rowling when she wrote it, but on Warner Bros. when they adapted it, because this, more than any of the others, was one they could not screw up.

Fortunately, they didn't. True, they cut out some things that gave the books just that little bit of an edge to readers, but they left in more than enough to leave fans utterly satisfied.

For a whole generation, this pair of movies gave them their first experience of a franchise they loved coming to an end that was utterly satisfying in every way. And that is something beautiful.
