10 Movie Franchises That (Almost) Destroyed Their Star

8. Kill Bill - Uma Thurman

In 2018, almost 15 years after production on the Kill Bill movies wrapped, Uma Thurman spoke out against director Quentin Tarantino, claiming that she was coerced into performing a driving stunt she was uncomfortable with.

Despite Thurman's insistence that a stunt driver perform the scene, Tarantino assured her the stunt was safe, after which she lost control of the car, hit a tree, and sustained a concussion as well as a knee injury. To this day, she still has permanent neck and knee issues from the accident.

Miramax only agreed to release the accident footage to Thurman if she signed a liability waiver, which she refused to do, and the entire incident left Thurman and Tarantino estranged for many years.

In 2018, Miramax finally handed the footage over amid the sexual harassment allegations levelled against producer Harvey Weinstein, while Tarantino called the incident "the biggest regret of [his] life."

Thurman later affirmed that she has since forgiven the director and would even be open to working with him on a third Kill Bill. Even so, had the accident gone just a little differently, Thurman might not even be here at all.
