10 Movie Happy Endings That Ignored One Devastating Thing

3. Diana Did Nothing About Hitler - Wonder Woman

The Happy Ending

Diana saves the world by shrugging off the offer of Ares to work with him to annihilate mankind and restore paradise on Earth and killing him with his own lightning. Sure, Steve Trevor dies, but it's a noble death and he helps convince Diana that mankind has some good in them worth saving.

The war ends and Diana retires from being a hero. Or at least she does until the 80s when she reappears to fight Cheetah in the sequel, despite it being made clear she'd been retired. It's almost like that wasn't really planned, or something.

But Wait...

If the first war to threaten mankind was enough to bring Wonder Woman out of hiding and Doomsday's appearance was enough to bring her out of retirement and Cheetah's plotting in the 80s was also enough to make her active again, why wasn't World War II?

What was it about the Nazis trying to take over the entire world and exterminating people at will that didn't qualify as a pressing enough issue for Diana to dust off her costume? And while you might say she DID help out but it was in secret, that's way too convenient considering Bruce Wayne was able to find evidence of her involvement in the First World War fairly easily and didn't mention anything else.
