Much like the Avengers, the Justice League had their fair share of issues when they first came together as a team. Far more of these came behind-the-scenes, but in front of the camera, Bruce Wayne struggled to get any semblance of a team outside of Wonder Woman and the Flash until it was almost too late.

Even so, adding both Cyborg and Aquaman to the fight against Steppenwolf and Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s Justice League just wasn’t enough. It wasn’t even close. They may have been a team, but they were without their star man to lead from the front.

In fact, the Justice League had their asses kicked so hard that the only option for their victory was to literally raise the dead, to use the dreaded Mother Box at tremendous risk to bring back the Man of Steel and finish the fight.

The introduction of Superman turned the tables and then some, but if the Mother Box failed to bring him back, or if Lois Lane hadn’t managed to get through to him and convince him not to destroy the League himself, our heroes wouldn’t have stood a chance against the alien invaders.
