10 Movie Heroes That Really Suck At Saving People

7. McClane Fumbles The Touchdown - Die Hard 2 (1990)

DieHard2Warner Bros.In Die Hard, a smart mouth New York City cop, John McClane, saves a group of hostages from a gang of international super-thieves, using nothing more than pluck and grit. In the sequel, Die Hard 2, McClane must rescue an entire airport from evil mercenaries. The results are a lot more mixed. As a show of power, the evil Colonel Stuart hacks into the air traffic control system at Washington€™s Dulles International Airport. He sets an airplane on a crash course with the tarmac. It€™s up to McClane to warn the pilot about the impending collision; the blue-collar hero is clearly out of his depth. The everyman scrambles to come up with a plan to save the passengers, settling on a solution that is sort of half-arsed. McClane attempts to get the pilot€™s attention by waving a pair of makeshift torches on the runway. McClane€™s heart might have been in the right place, but his plan is a spectacular failure. The plane crashes, causing 230 passengers die a horrific, fiery death. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkCQ_-Id8zI McClane triumphs in the end, rescuing the remaining planes stranded in the air; however, a body count in the hundreds is a pretty huge flub. McClane€™s eventual victory is cold comfort for the friends and loved ones of the passengers on the ill-fated plane.
