8. Peter Kills Way More People Than He Saves - Vertical Limit (2000)
Columbia Pictures2000s rock climbing adventure film, Vertical Limit, contains a mountaineer-hero so terrible at his job he makes Cliffhangers Gabe Walker look downright competent. Peter Garrett is a walking, talking typhoon of failure that ruins everything he touches. When Peters sister finds herself and two other mountaineers trapped in a crevasse on the deadly mountain K2, he takes it upon himself to mount a rescue party. The results are an unmitigated disaster for everybody concerned. Peter enlists the help of incompetent mountaineers to help him cart highly volatile nitroglycerin up K2 to blow up the crevasse and free his sister. To the surprise of no one, the nitro blows up a couple of the volunteers, causing an avalanche. Peter adds to his plethora of fail by recruiting a mountaineer with a grudge against one of the climbers trapped in the crevasse. Unsurprisingly, the vengeful mountaineer kills the object of his vendetta during the rescue. The only thing keeping Peter from the top of the list is the fact he does rescue his sister in the end (although the other two climbers die in the process). So Peter manages to rescue one third of the climbers while making the body count way higher than it would have been if he had never stepped foot on K2. Good job.
