5. Max Shares The Movie With Furiosa - Mad Max: Fury Road
The Moment: After spending the opening 40 minutes-or-so of the movie either tied to the front of a car or muzzled, Max (Tom Hardy) meets up with Furiosa (Charlize Theron) and they essentially "share" the rest of the movie as co-leads. Plus, she speaks more dialogue than him: he mostly just mumbles and grunts. Why The Fanboys Hate It: Now, even Mel Gibson's Max wasn't the most vocal of bada** heroes, but there are some die-hard fans who take umbrage with Max not only being on the quiet side, but sharing the movie with another character. Now, be clear, this isn't because she's female (though some idiots have complained about that), but simply because she's another person: many feel that Max was sidelined for Furiosa's benefit, his awesomeness being downplayed as a result. Granted, there aren't many who dislike George Miller's masterful action film, but that hasn't stopped the hardcore crowd picking at the movie's bones, complaining that Hardy feels more like a supporting character than the titular one. Whether that balance will be addressed in the next movie, which may or may not feature Furiosa, we'll have to wait and see...
