10 Movie Moments That Should Make You Look Away (But Totally Gripped You)

4. The Medbay - Alien: Covenant

Alien Covenant Backburster
20th Century Fox

We’re all familiar with the iconic “chest-burster” scene from the original Alien (1979). It was a gruesome and graphic yet glorious movie moment that helped pioneer both the sci-fi-horror and body-horror genres. Fast forward to 2017; the original film’s director Ridley Scott makes another foray into the sci-fi-horror genre with an addition to the Alien franchise.

Although in actuality the film boasts a great deal more action than horror, there are still several seriously scary scenes, all of which, fans of the original film are sure to appreciate; with ‘the medbay’ scene, in particular, revisiting and reinventing the legendary chest-burster moment that made this movie monster so iconic.

It is easily the most chilling (and arguably the best) scene in the whole film, featuring intense performances from both Carmen Ejogo and Amy Seimetz in what can only be described as a bloodbath. After Benjamin Rigby’s Ledward is infected by alien spores, things look dire. Karine takes him to the medbay where a pale baby alien creature soon erupts from Ledward’s back, taking the man’s spine with it.

Avert your eyes from this scene, I challenge thee.

Elliot Singleton hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
