3. What Happened To Mr. Potter? - It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
The undeniable villain of all-time great Christmas classic
It's A Wonderful Life is the contemptuous Mr. Potter, who causes an all manner of troubles for James Stewart's suicidal George Bailey. But at one particularly notable part of the story, Mr. Potter snatches a paper away from the absent-minded Uncle Billy, and in the process, swipes an $8,000 deposit with it. Knowing that losing the cash will cause George Bailey to fall into bankruptcy, Mr. Potter keeps it all. And for his horrific crime, nothing ever comes to Mr. Potter in what is surely one of Hollywood's biggest failures to give one of its most horrendous characters a proper comeuppance. The man is last seen spewing another one of his trademark douchebag lines and it's left at that. The question is, of course: whatever happened to the old brute, and why didn't anybody think to write him into the ending?
