10 Movie Recasts That Totally Trolled Fans

3. Evelyn O'Connell (The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor)

MCU Hulk Edward Norton Mark Ruffalo
Universal Pictures

Oh, it looks like Brandan Fraser is back! However, this time it's not him who is getting recast.

The Mummy movies captured all the fun you could expect from a late 90s, early noughties action-adventure series. They were daring, exciting and full of top actors putting out memorable performances. One such name was Rachel Weisz, who charmed everyone with her brilliant portrayal of Evelyn O'Connell. But, if you expected to see her in the 2008 return to the franchise, then you were about as lucky as Imhotep himself.

Tomb of the Dragon Emperor saw a change in line-up, as Rachel Weisz was replaced by Maria Bello. There's no concrete answer to why this happened, but happen it did. When it came to introducing the new version of Evelyn, the filmmakers decided to play a prank on the viewers.

In this third instalment, the new Evelyn is introduced during a public reading of her in-universe book based on the events of the first two films. Her face is deliberately kept hidden until someone from the crowd asks if the (clearly self-insert) Scarlet O'Keefe character is based on herself. The camera then lines up to her face as she says, "honestly, I can say she's a completely different person".

Okay, everyone saw what you did there!
