10 Movie Remakes/Reboots We Actually Want To See

5. Eragon

Eragon Movie
20th Century Fox

Eragon was an absolute disaster when it was adapted into a film in 2006. It was derided as a lame rip-off of Star Wars and a cheap attempt to cash in on the fantasy film craze that was capturing audiences after Lord of the Rings and Narnia both smashed their box office targets. But the books carried better potential - part of a trilogy, the second and third films were scheduled to shoot back-to-back after Eragon’s release but were cancelled because of the overwhelmingly negative critical reception.

And there’s been a lack of big fantasy films, recently. Seventh Son and the Hobbit films were rubbish, so there’s not been much confidence in the genre - but Peter Jackson’s fantasy-steampunk adventure Mortal Engines is coming this winter, and that could bring with it a new wave of interest in fantasy. If producers would give Eragon and the Inheritance series another chance, it’s possible we could make something great from the ashes of a terrible film.

Ben Trangmar hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
