6. Blade
Two words: Quentin Tarantino. The original Blade was the first truly adult superhero film, with tons of blood and gory violence which set the stage for modern films like Deadpool and Logan. It’s the success of those two films, in fact, that would make Blade such a hit today. Superhero films don’t have to be 12A to make money.
And who does over-the-top violence better than Tarantino? Tarantino has been tapped for various franchise films over the years, including Green Lantern and recently Star Trek, but Tarantino could bring the real edge that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been missing and which Fox seems to be rolling in with Logan and Deadpool. It’s unlikely, given Disney’s family-friendly image, but Blade could be up there with Logan as a great adult superhero film if given the chance to come back.
