10 Movie Remakes You Had No Idea Were Even Happening

6. Point Break (1991)

pointbreakPoint Break is a very '90s movie about an uncover FBI agent who infiltrates a surfer gang that he believes are actually a group of notorious thieves who get their kicks robbing banks. Break was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who you'll know from her work on TheHurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, and was the first movie to ever feature a piece of humanoid cardboard in the central role. That's to say, Keanu Reeves played the main character. Will The Remake Be Any Good? I've got a real problem with Point Break, and that's mostly because of Keanu Reeves' character (who I ranted about excessively in a previous article which you should definitely read here on account that you owe me one, remember?). Basically what I went on to say was that Johnny Utah's methods in the movie are absolutely ridiculous: if he would have simply avoided the case, so many people wouldn't have been needlessly killed. What I think, then, is that this remake should firmly address this fact and either subvert it or make it part of the plot. Utah is a douchebag, and that to resonante. Then again, the producer seems to have other ideas (of the sporting kind):

€œIt's not just surfing, it€™s other kinds of extreme sports, but surfing is very, very prominent in the story.€

Um, okay, then. Ericson Core (that a name?) has signed on to helm this remake of little interest to the world at large.
