10 Movie Roles That Made Great Actors Look Like They'd Gone Insane

1. Ben Kingsley - Everything Post-Thunderbirds (2004)

The Love Guru Has any actor gone to such lengths to convince us that he's gone totally insane other than Sir Ben Kingsley? This is the same Sir Ben Kingsley, who, back in 1982, blew everyone away with his performance as Gandhi in the Richard Attenborough movie of the same name, and for which he won an Academy Award. Sometimes, when I'm sitting around doing nothing, images of Ben Kingsley's career will dance on my mind, and I'll spend the next four or five hours pondering who, exactly, is that guy's agent. I can only presume it's a species of dog or an alien or something. How else can you explain why Kingsley, who gave such an emotional turn in Schindler's List, and was beyond transformative as a deranged psychopath in Sexy Beast, agreed to star in Thunderbirds? Okay, so maybe that was an accident, or that he he was a fan of the TV show. Explain Blood Rayne, then. Explain as to why he agreed to play a vamp in a Uwe Boll movie. You can't, can you? And then, to top it off, we have his little turn in The Love Guru, where he plays a character so bewildering that it breaks the mind to think about it - a guru who dispenses crude sex advice. All sense in the universe died the moment Kingsley took that part, I swear. Like this article? Which insane turns have we missed? Let us know in the comments section below.
