10 Movie Sequel Villains Far Scarier Than The Original
6. Khan - Star Trek Into Darkness
There was nothing inherently wrong with Nero as a villain when Star Trek was rebooted in 2009. Eric Bana's antagonist wasn't exactly the most memorable a bad guy could have been, but hey, he did blow up Vulcan in its entirety, so he couldn't have been too bad, right?
However, Nero simply couldn't hold a candle to John Harrison four years later. Yes, everyone might have known that Harrison would ultimately be revealed as Khan, but Benedict Cumberbatch put on one hell of a villainous performance.
Old Spock (Leonard Nimoy) may have described Khan the best. He was the most dangerous adversary the Enterprise ever faced, he was both brilliant and ruthless, and he wouldn't hesitate to kill every single member of the crew if he needed to. Hell, he murdered 42 innocent people just to get the senior command of Starfleet into one room together, and manipulated the father of a dying daughter to do so.
All this without mentioning the fact that he was essentially a superman, superior both in intellect and physically as he took everything Kirk (Chris Pine) could throw at him without barely so much as a blink, and survived a crash no one else could have. The only way Spock was able to defeat him was by sending 72 torpedoes at him, and he even survived that. Yes, he worked together with Kirk for some time, but this was merely a means to an end, and as soon as the Enterprise crew's use was over, he tried to kill them.
