10 Movie Sequels We're DYING To See In 2023

2. Dune Part 2

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning
Warner Bros.

Release Date - October 20th

Frank Herbert’s Dune was so epic in scale, it was regarded by many to be unfilmable. The sci-fi saga seemingly earned this legacy, considering how poorly David Lynch's adaptation turned out in 1984.

But in 2021, visionary filmmaker, Denis Villeneuve, pulled off the impossible by making a masterful film adaptation of Dune, which captured the elegance and spectacle of the original novel.

There was just one problem - the plot is so colossal, there's no way to condense it properly in one movie. (The fact that Lynch attempted to do this with his version is another reason why his adaptation failed.) As a result, Villeneuve wisely decided to split the story into two, with the second part coming out in 2023.

Even though the action sequences were dauntingly ambitious in Dune, the sequel could lose the wow-factor if it just doles out more of the same. But since the follow-up will focus on our hero, Paul Atreides, developing his powers, Dune Part 2 is sure to be a lot more trippy and experimental than its predecessor.

And with the recent announcement that Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Christopher Walken will be joining the fray, fans have genuine difficulty hiding their excitement for what's sure to be an instant-classic.
