10 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2020

4. A Quiet Place 2

Though A Quiet Place ended on a "what happened next?" note, it's one of those films that feels like it doesn't need a sequel.

However, the film was such a phenomenon that Paramount CEO Jim Gianopulos confirmed a second one was in the works literally two weeks after the original opened, with the studio officially dating the film - which will bow in May 2020 - shortly after.

John Krasinski - who wrote and directed the first - will be back to pen the script, with no word on who will helm the sequel just yet. During a discussion on Ringer's The Big Picture podcast, Krasinski dropped some hints about the movie's story, stating that it would not be a conventional sequel:

"We have the world. So it’s actually the world that’s built, it’s the idea that the rest of the world is going through this exact same experience. Are there other people that have to survive like this? It’s that idea of living through the set of circumstances, not again in the same way obviously, but exploring it more."

Rough translation: rather than sticking with the same family, it appears that the sequel will branch out and explore other stories in this world, retaining the same atmosphere and tone as the first, but giving us some fresh narrative meat to chew on.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
