Clearly taking inspiration from one of his most iconic character's famous words of "nothin' (being) over 'til it's over", despite at one point looking like the adrenaline-fuelled, action-packed series had very much had its day in the sun, it seems as though Sylvester Stallone's big meaty franchise is set to finally get its long-awaited fourth instalment.

On the back of the third Expendables ensemble flick not exactly smashing it at the box office in the way the prior two entries had, news of Stallone apparently walking away from the property over creative differences in 2017 looked to all but kill any hopes of a violent final hurrah for Sly.

However, by September 2021 bridges were mended to the point of actually beginning filming on the last outing for Barney Ross, with the latest chapter of the star-studded action series being reportedly centred around a nuclear conflict between Russia and the US that the titular characters find themselves being dragged into.

And in regards to precisely when this Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture-starring and Scott Waugh-directed ride will actually land in cinemas, a September 2023 release was recently finally made official by Lionsgate.
