10 Movie Soundtracks Better Than The Film

7. Saturday Night Fever

Yeah...like you're not going to see one of the best-selling albums of all time on here. As much as rockers might not like to admit it, the mid '70s music scene belonged to disco, with everyone going for more danceable grooves that would fit in nicely at Studio 54. There were plenty of great disco acts to go around, but Saturday Night Fever managed to capture the entire spirit of the genre under one roof.

People who went to the cinema may have been watching John Travolta strut his stuff onscreen, but the real star of the show was the music, with classics like "Disco Inferno" and "Boogie Shoes" in place and accounted for. Though there are plenty of classic disco acts to go around, the soundtrack belongs to the Bee Gees, who managed to give their career a second wind thanks to their indulgence with disco.

Travolta could have strut along that New York City street without a care in the world, but it wouldn't mean a thing unless "Stayin Alive" was blaring from the speakers.

Even the less notable songs like "Night Fever" and "How Deep is Love" have held up as some of the most heartfelt moments in the history of the genre. So next time someone tells you about the inherent "uncool" factor of disco, just throw on this record and dance your ass off.
