10 Movie Universes That Make NO SENSE

7. James Bond

The James Bond franchise is a shamelessly messy beast where its own internal history is concerned, and it's really best to just think of each actor's set of films as their own walled-off series of stories.

Despite that, the implication in the earlier Bond films in particular was that these movies were all a contiguous volume of adventures experienced by the same man, rather than the oft-cited fan theory that "James Bond" is actually a codename used by numerous individuals.

Notably in 1981's For Your Eyes Only, Roger Moore's 007 visits the grave of his wife Tracy, who died in the George Lazenby-starring 1969 Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Though 2006's Casino Royale marked a hard reboot for the series as Daniel Craig took the mantle from Pierce Brosnan, this clear line of distinction was blurred by the carry-over casting of Judi Dench as M, as brilliant as she was in the Brosnan films.

All in all the series' lack of regard for the passage of time and the limitations of a single man's existence haven't hurt it one bit, so the producers have no incentive whatsoever to try and lock Bond into a concrete time and identity.
