10 Movie Villains With Motives We Can Relate To

9. Bane - The Dark Knight Rises

Bane Front Poor old Bane. He just wants to help people. We€™ll skip over his relationship with Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin because the poor soul is obviously as embarrassed about that as we all are. Let€™s look at the poor lamb in The Dark Knight Rises. Obviously he did something wrong to end up in The Pit, maybe stole an apple to live or something just like Bruce Wayne our hero did, but when he was incarcerated he protected a young, innocent girl called Talia after her mother was murdered by the inmates. Get that. He wasn€™t involved in the murder and then protected the daughter. He€™s a hero already. When Talia escapes The Pit, it€™s Bane who is beaten down by the same horrible prisoners and has to wear a mask that provides a drug to numb the pain. Victim. From there it€™s a constant struggle for Bane. No-one can really understand a word he says. No-one really recognises his accent. Above all though, rejected by society for being a victim, he has to live in the sewers after even being blamed for the death of Talia€™s mother. Like he could have saved both of them from the gnashing hordes! From there, along with Talia, he just decides to prove a few lessons to the moneyed millions of Gotham. They don€™t need cash to be happy so, to prove the point, he raids the futures exchange. They don€™t need sport to enjoy themselves, so he blows up a stadium. They also don€™t need Batman to be safe so, er, he breaks his back. Anyway, Bane was just a little poor kid punished for helping a child. How can the people of Gotham live with themselves?!
