10 Movies Everyone Wanted (But Nobody Went To See)
3. Catwoman
Everyone knows that Iron Man changed the game for superhero films in 2008, but it's not like the genre didn't exist before Tony Stark first suited up.
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man pushed the Web-slinger to new heights; the X-Men movies did well until the third one put people off mutants for life; and there was also 2004's Catwoman!
Wait, that's not a good thing. That's not a good thing at all.
To give the team behind this film some credit, Catwoman was not a cursed name back in '04. Michelle Pfeiffer's version of Selena Kyle was the best thing about Batman Returns, so why shouldn't a solo outing for the character do well?
Because it was rubbish, that's why.
The Halle Berry-fronted offering is widely regarded as one of the worst superhero flicks ever made. Poor writing, bad special effects, acting straight out of a middle school end of term revue; Catwoman had it all and plenty more.
It didn't even draw money, as it failed to recoup its $100 million budget.
Fans hoping to see the feline femme fatale get her big screens dues were sorely disappointed, and the character will now forever be associated with this litterbox of a movie.
