Disney are very good at making movies. They're also very good at selling movies.

They did neither of those things very well on 2013's The Lone Ranger.

Based on very popular character of the same name, the film went through a whole bunch of delays and production issues before it finally saw the light of day. Unfortunately, the bad times didn't end after it came out.

Everything pointed towards The Lone Ranger doing well at the box office. It was led by Johnny Depp and a pre-cannibal Armie Hammer, with a supporting cast that included Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.

Plus, it was a Disney movie, which is usually a sign that something is going to make quite a bit of money. Walt didn't sell his soul just to make pocket change, you know!

In some bad news for ol' Walty, the film was a giant bomb, making £260 million off a budget of £250 million. Chuck in a bunch of marketing costs and you've got yourself one of the biggest flops in history, with estimated losses of anywhere between $186 million and $221 million.

Oh well, at least critics liked the film.

What's that? 31% on Rotten Tomatoes?

Oh dear...
