10 Movies From 2016 That Could Score 100% On Rotten Tomatoes
3. Moana
Release Date: November 23, 2016 It's official: Disney are back. After a decade of lackluster efforts, Disney rediscovered their creativity and along came a series of animated flicks to rival even Pixar's output: The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen - and most recently - Big Hero 6 have ushered in a new renaissance for the studio, who lost their mojo in the mid-noughties (remember Chicken Little? Ugh). Basically, Disney are on a roll, and their upcoming 56th animated feature film, Moana, which has a Lilo & Stitch vibe about it (underrated movie, by the way) looks like it has all the makings of an potential classic (Zootopia, the film that the studio are releasing before this one in March, doesn't quite look like it'll reach the heights of Moana - sorry, guys!). The plot is said to be "a Polynesian tale involving the island folk and the idols made famous the world over" and will feature voice-work from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. What's so special about that, you wonder? How 'bout the fact that it's being helmed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who are responsible for so much of your childhood joy? These are the men who directed The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Tarzan and The Princess and the Frog. If anyone can deliver a flawless animated masterpiece, it's them.
