10 Movies From 2016 That Really Shouldn’t Have Been Boring

7. Ben-Hur

Wolverine Weapon X
Warner Bros. Pictures

Ben-Hur is by its very natural an exciting tale; you’ve got chariot racing, epic revenge, battle scenes and Jesus. That’s a recipe for fun right there. It was an odd choice to update for modern, comic book addicted audiences, but it could have worked a treat with the right approach.

Sadly the film was lacking star power or an interesting creative approach, so it just kind of sits there. Lord knows it can’t be easy to make a chariot race boring, so hats off to the studio for making the one here curiously tension-free. Since the story has been told before the film holds no real surprises either, making this new Ben-Hur’s existence something of a puzzle.

That was reflected in the disappointing box office, so you probably shouldn't expect a Ben-Hur Cinematic Universe anything soon

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
