10 Movies It Was Impossible To Dislike

9. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Everyone who has seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off wants to be as cool as the quick-witted, good looking male lead played by Matthew Broderick. Unfortunately, though, most people only ever achieve coolness status equivalent to that of Ferris ' best-friend, Cameron. Cameron does exactly what Ferris tells him to do and is nothing more than average looking (sorry, Alan Ruck) and yet you can't dislike Ferris for being cocky or manipulative no matter how hard you try. Every single person falls prey to the Bueller charm, and that's the beauty of the movie. Accompanied by Sloane Peterson (Ferris' undeniably attractive girlfriend), this mismatched trio embark on a hilarious evasion of their high school principal, Cameron's father and Ferris' sister on their "day off". They explore the streets of Chicago whilst the viewer explores the themes of status, friendship and sibling rivalry. The reason this film is so likeable is because we were all kids once; we all had days when we didn't feel like going to school, and the majority of us have conned our parents into thinking we're sicker than we actually are at one time or another. It makes adults want to be a kid again €“ and if you are a kid, or teenager, it encourages you to be more spontaneous and fundamentally, to have fun. Undeniably funny, this movie (despite having been made nearly thirty years ago) has stood the test of time, and I believe will continue to be enjoyed and loved for many years to come.

Hi I'm Beth, a 17 year old girl from the UK who is most often found sat in front of my computer in my room making no noise and pretending I don't exist*. I like coffee (black, two sugars), old books and I'm currently studying the art of procrastination. On a more serious note, I'm currently studying for my A Levels, taking English Literature, English Language, History and Economics. I intend to study either English or Journalism at university. *that's a Harry Potter reference. If you didn't get that, then shame on you.
