10 Movies Missing From Warner Bros.' DCEU Slate (And Why)

9. Batgirl

Deathstroke Justice League
DC Comics

Staying in Gotham City for a moment, and Batgirl is another highly anticipated project which is notable by its absence from Warner Bros.' slate of DC Comics adaptations.

Another big 2017 announcement from the studio, The Avengers director Joss Whedon was initially in talks to write and direct the film until he walked away from the project a year later. Clearly, Warner Bros. was confident he would steer Justice League in the right direction, but after he delivered a complete mess, the studio likely had a change of heart.

A few short months later, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson signed up to deliver a new draft of the screenplay, but the only real update we've had since then is that Batgirl is another project put on hold until Matt Reeves' plans for The Batman become clear.

Warner Bros. has never been keen on the idea of having multiple versions of one character around at the same time, and with no mention of Barbara Gordon in Birds of Prey, it looks like Reeves is the one who will get to decide this popular hero's big screen future.
