10 Movies Nobody Wanted To Admit Were Actually Remakes

9. Dark Phoenix Deja Vu

Throughout production on Dark Phoenix, we were constantly reassured by those involved that it wasn't going to be a lazy rehash of a story that we'd already seen botched before in X-Men: The Last Stand. On that front, they were right, because it turned out to be so much worse.

Apparently the celebrated comic book arc is impossible to adapt for the big screen, with Sophie Turner's painfully wooden performance making Famke Janssen's not-exactly-riveting portrayal of Jean Grey look as magnetic as Hugh Jackman's Wolverine by comparison.

The plot beats recycled from The Last Stand for Dark Phoenix include, but are not limited to; any hits of Jean's Phoenix powers in previous movies are never mentioned, Charles Xavier takes the blame for tampering with her mind and trying to limit her powers, Jean goes crazy at her childhood home, a core member of the X-Men is killed, we get a funeral scene, and her turn to the dark side is cemented by...wearing a red coat.

The Last Stand was viewed as the worst X-Men movie yet when it was first released back in 2006, but Dark Phoenix even stole that thunder after being savaged by critics and becoming the biggest box office bomb of last year.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
