10 Movies That Are FINALLY Happening

8. The Devil in the White City

The Wolf Of Wall Street Scorsese DiCaprio

An adaptation of Erik Larson's 2003 novel The Devil in the White City - which tells the story of con artist and serial killer H. H. Holmes - has been in the works for 15 years, with Leonardo DiCaprio first acquiring the film rights back in 2010.

DiCaprio was intended to star as Holmes while Martin Scorsese would direct a script from Billy Ray (Captain Phillips), yet for reasons unknown, the project never came together.

Development stalled long enough that DiCaprio and Scorsese agreed to executive-produce a Hulu TV series adaptation starring Keanu Reeves, though this also fell through in 2022. But back in January, it was announced that 20th Century Studios had revived the film from development hell with DiCaprio and Scorsese again attached as star and director.

While a script hasn't yet been completed, and Scorsese certainly has his fair share of unrealised projects, between the dishy subject matter, acclaimed source material, and irresistible actor-director pairing, it feels like the stars are finally aligning for this one.
