10 Movies That Are Still Great After Twenty Viewings

2. Back To The Future

The inherent genius of Back to the Future is that it cannot be pigeon-holed into one genre: it is just as much a comedy movie as it it a fantasy, a sci-fi flick, an action or adventure film, or a romance. There is arguably no other motion picture in the history of the medium that successfully combines so many genres into one movie to such success - and it is in that success that Back to the Future remains endlessly watchable; the twentieth viewing brings just as much joy as the first, second or third.

There are other reasons: though light-hearted, Back to the Future is also an incredibly dense movie; there's a lot to take in, and Robert Zemeckis' picture revels in the opportunity to include as many jokes, sight gags and time travel references as possible in the two hour running time. Which makes Back to the Future ripe as a movie to be indulged in repeatedly.

But perhaps the greatest thing about Back to the Future - and the thing that has kept fans so loyal to the franchise after all these years - are its chemistry-clad leads: Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd serve up one of the most unlikely friendships in all of cinema with their endlessly likeable duo Marty McFly and Doc Emmet L. Brown - a true masterstroke in casting an iconic partnership if ever there was one.
