9. Tron 3

Tron fans already had to wait nearly three decades between releases, with the first film coming out in 1982 and Tron: Legacy arriving in cinemas in 2010. Several sequels were actually planned to the video game-inspired sci-fi series, with Steven Lisberger, director of the first Tron, saying that a third film was already being talked about before Legacy was even released.

Rumours and reports subsequently stated that the sequel had been greenlit and a trailer might appear sometime in 2011, but nothing came of it. Legacy's director, Joseph Kosinski, said that a story was being worked on and even announced the title of the film as the rather embarrassing TR3N.

In the years that followed, reports kept coming out to say that a script had been found and filming was due to start, but it never did. In 2015, Disney approved the project, with most of the cast and crew set to return, but it got cancelled yet again. Last year, Jared Leto revealed that he is attached to Tron's untitled sequel but it's only in the planning stages right now. Time will tell if this is all just another ruse or if Tron 3 might finally see the light of day.

Mike Pedley hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
