10 Movies That Could Be The Big Surprise Hit Of 2016

10. Green Room

What Is It? Patrick Stewart as a neo-nazi is the basic pitch anyone'll give for Green Room because, well, doesn't that sound incredible? But there's more to Jeremy Saulnier's black thriller than that, which sees a rock band attacked by Stewart's gang after a gig and forced to fight their way out from their backstage hovel. Extreme violence ensues. Will It Be Good? The film was already getting a lot of hype off the back of Saulnier's previous, Blue Ruin, but after the buzz from festivals and some trailers only watchable through parsed fingers it's looking like this is the sadistic horror/action mashup we're all secretly waiting for. Far more than just Stewart going bad, there's a solid cast here and an unflinching attitude to threat and gore (just check out the red band trailer). But Will It Be A Hit? For all its praise, Blue Ruin remained resolutely a part of the indie scene and Green Room doesn't look to be making any consolations to broaden Saulnier's work. And that's where Stewart comes in. While he's not a focal point of the trailer, he is going to be a key piece of the movie's draw; a lot of people who would otherwise give it a miss may be intrigued to check out this dark work.
