10 Movies That DELIBERATELY Didn't Give Fans What They Wanted
1. Scream (2022)
Though the recent fifth Scream film was largely embraced by fans and critics alike, there was one major disappointment, that one of the most-cited rumours didn't in fact come to pass.
While fans got the kinda-return of original killer Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) through hallucinations experienced by his daughter Sam (Melissa Barrera), there was far more excitement about the possible return of Billy's partner-in-crime Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard).
Many fans expected Stu to return given that he was originally going to be revealed as Scream 3's puppet-master, orchestrating the new Ghostface slayings from prison. This seemed to suggest that he (somehow?) survived having a TV dropped on his head at the end of the first film.
Bringing Stu back would've been ridiculous but ultimately put a smile on many fans' faces, and so the masses were left underwhelmed that Stu was ultimately nowhere to be seen.
The new film does include an Easter egg nodding to Stu's possible survival with a YouTube video entitled, "Did the real-life Stu Macher survive?," so while the door isn't entirely closed on Stu's maybe-survival, it didn't happen this time.
But there's always Scream 6, right?
