Another Paramount franchise which could have benefited from the positive exposure Comic-Con brings is Star Trek. Star Trek Into Darkness wasn't quite as well received as the first instalment and the whole John Harrison/Khan fiasco alienated many longtime Trekkies, and while the studio don't have any footage just yet, the cast alone may have been enough. The movie - which is believed to be titled Star Trek Beyond - will be released slightly before next year's Comic-Con too, meaning that the studio won't have a second chance. The cast of this rebooted franchise have always been warmly welcomed by fans at the event, and with Chris Pine attached to Wonder Woman and Zoe Saldana a Guardian of the Galaxy, the interest in the panel this year could have potentially been bigger than ever before. Perhaps Paramount were just scared of being overshadowed by Star Wars?
