10 Movies That Have Shunned Comic-Con 2015

4. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

It took them a while, but Paramount Pictures finally realised that releasing Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol a week after Star Wars: The Force Awakens reaches cinema isn't a smart idea. The chances of this movie reaching #1 would be somewhere near zero! Rather than delay the Christopher McQuarrie helmed sequel, they decided to release it this July. The only problem with bringing up a movie's release date like that is that it gives the studio less time to promote it, and it's always easy for even a movie as big as this to be lost in the shuffle when it's placed right in the middle of the busy summer blockbuster season. A panel at Comic-Con featuring Tom Cruise would have give Paramount a real edge when it comes to sheer star power, while showing off more of that amazing plane stunt would have caught the attention of mainstream websites which usually ignore the event. That won't be happening though, so the studio had best ramp up promotion soon if they're hoping Rogue Nation will find the success it would have missed out on in December.
