10 Movies That Prove Action Stars Shouldn't Do Comedy

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Kindergarten Cop (1990)

Kindergarten Cop is the grandaddy of them all. The biggest reason action stars should not attempt comedy, and a groundbreaking film for many of the other movies on this list. Arnold Schwarzenegger had ventured into comedy before, 2 years earlier with director Ivan Reitman in the comedy Twins. Twins, however, had the redeeming quality of the always spot on Danny DeVito as a fallback for any comedic mishaps at the hands of Schwarzenegger. In 1990, Schwarzenegger, once again teaming with Reitman decided to try it on his own. Schwarzenegger, an undeniably great screen presence is absolutely brutal in the film, and his performance now is the subject of mockery for his failed attempt at tickling the funny bone. Although this film was a box office smash, it was the almost train wreck appeal that brought audiences flocking. The concept is simple: tough guy Arnold Schwarzenegger is an undercover cop sent on a mission to watch over a kindergarten classroom. Funny, right? As with most of the films on this list, the idea is always more funnier than the actual film, and Kindergarten Cop blazed the trail for such classics as The Pacifier, The Game Plan, Mr. Nanny, Tooth Fairy and even the 1994 Schwarzenegger-Reitman-DeVito re teaming, Junior . Thanks, Arnie! Can you think of any other bad comedies featuring an action star? Drop a comment below.
