10 Movies That Prove Action Stars Shouldn't Do Comedy

6. Jackie Chan - Around The World In 80 Days (2004)

Most of the films that Jackie Chan stars in have always been quite humorous, as his far fetched kinetic style of martial arts has to have a sense of humor to go along with it. From some of his more popular films like Drunken Master, Shanghai Noon and the Rush Hour series, Chan's films always have a great undercoating of hilarity to go along with them. A film however that completely missed the mark with this formula was the 2004 re-telling of the Jules Verne classic Around The World In 80 Days. Along with the always funny Steve Coogan as his co-star, there was a possibility this could be a very entertaining venture. However, the film is a puffed out mess, with no real direction as to what it wants to achieve. It tries to be a comedy more than an action film and an action movie when it should have been more funny. Chan and his usual array of terrific fight sequences get lost in the shuffle of lousy special effects and an overbearingly awful cameo from Arnold Schwarzenegger, which just hurts this putrid flop even more so.
