Diane Lane fears the net in Untraceable
Lakeshore Entertainment

This is a film that proves the world hasn't changed much in terms of understanding how the internet works.

When The AVClub ran a piece about it, they had a guy explain the technical errors that made no sense whatsoever in reality.

See, there's a serial killer out there, and he's constantly changing his internet locations so he can't be tracked, but the more hits he gets, the faster the person dies onscreen.

Diane Lane is the FBI agent tracking him down. There's no real motive beyond getting hits online. So never like anyone's facebook post again - or it'll lead to Colin Hanks burned in acid.
