10 Movies That Tried To Make The Internet Scary

Stephen Rea being evil on the internet in Feardotcom
Warner Bros. Pictures

FearDotCom's director William Malone really wanted to do something interesting, with visuals that were meant to look like on-screen nightmares.

Unfortunately, it's just a boring gorefest that tries far too hard. Detective Stephen Dorff starts investigating a website that, when viewed, kills the watcher days after. Essentially, it's the plot of The Ring with computers. The site is linked to a serial killer (an underused Stephen Rea) who really likes killing.

This attracts the attention of Department of Health Employee and Famke Jansenn impersonator Natasha McElhone, and together they try to solve the boring, boring mystery.

It wasn't even timely when it was released, just downright stupid. Give Malone a little credit for an attempt at creativity and a half-way decent remake of The House on Haunted Hill, but this film fails on every level imaginable.
