10 Movies That Used Great Songs To Trick You Into Watching Them

10. One Fine Day

20th Century Fox had high hopes for this comedic vehicle, especially with the unfeasibly fetching combination of Michelle Pfeiffer and a certain fledgling movie lead named George Clooney. The story, designed to get as many female behinds to sit as conceivably possible, had the pair thrown together trying to look after their kids after failing to deliver them for a school trip. Ultimately this was a feelgood tale - no matter what the calamity that befell the attractive double act, they would clearly end up locking lips. So with that in mind a classic upbeat love song would be needed to give the action an extra lift and bring in any undecided moviegoers. That was how, for no particular reason, the film wound up being called One Fine Day. Unfortunately the result broke the hearts of the two stars' fans more than box office records. But at least they had a catchy tune to sing along to on the way out of the multiplex, courtesy of The Chiffons and an alternate version by Natalie Merchant. Have I Told You Lately That I Love you by Van Morrison and What A Difference A Day Made by Ella Fitzgerald (surely an improved title!) got thrown into the syrupy confection for good measure.
