3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The first Jurassic Wolrd film is a mess. Colin Trevorrow's writing and direction are sporadic-at-best, but it managed to skirt by on the skin of its teeth because it knew how to utilize the audience's nostalgia for original Jurassic Park film.

The sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, doubles down on the pitfalls of the prior film and is easily the worst of the entire Jurassic franchise. Notably, Trevorrow did not direct this film, only serving as a writer. But Trevorrow's script bends over backward in an attempt to not only validate some of the laziest ideas from his first script (hello again, dinosaurs for military-use subplot) but also to set up all the pieces so that he can tell the story he wants for the third film.

Trevorrow has practically said as much;

"I knew the beginning, middle, and end... This was a very deliberate set of films in order to open this up into something that could potentially really be entirely new.

Thus, Fallen Kingdom winds up being little more than a two-hour exercise in setting up the third film. Its entire plot is nothing more than a flimsy excuse to set up a world in which Trevorrow can have his third film be all about dinosaurs roaming free in the human world, no matter how much stupidity it took to get there.
