10 Movies Too Excruciating To Watch More Than Once

10. Grizzly Man (2005)

grizzlyman Werner Herzog's harrowing documentary concerns Timothy Treadwell, an eccentric and presumably insane bear fanatic who takes to the wilderness with his girlfriend to co-exist alongside his favourite animals. The story itself, both fascinating and bizarre in its entirely, is narrated by Herzog, who collects Treadwell's own footage and blends it with interviews that were filmed in the aftermath of the movie's central tragedy. It's not to spoil this documentary to say that Treadwell and his girlfriend were both mauled and killed by a bear. Though Herzog doesn't linger on the tragedy with anything but respect, there's one defining moment that assures you don't need to revisit Grizzly Man once you've taken it in already: Herzog is given the opportunity to listen to a recording of Treadwell as he is killed by the bear, where reduces the usually stoic director to tears.
