5. The Craft (1996)
I'm old enough that I remember some of my favorite VHS tapes. More importantly, I remember my favorite taped-off-TV VHS tapes. Top of the list is Star Wars with most of the final battle missing, but full of '80s commercial breaks that my parents forgot to turn off. Next in line is The Craft, a movie that my older and awesomer sister recorded. I watched it while my parents were out of the house because I was 15 and it was R-rated and they would never approve. 15-year-old me was pretty much blown away. 32-year-old me still laughs at 15-year-old me for various reasons. Yes, it's a movie that co-stars a real Wiccan with one of the greatest names of all-time - Fairuza Balk. Yes, it shows that bullying victims can get back at their tormentors over a decade before Harry Potter came on the scene. Yes, it even has a suicidal girl. What does this cautionary tale tell us, though? 1) You can think Goth girls are slutty. They are. 2) You can think Wiccans are slutty. They are. 3) Girl-on-girl bullying is hot, especially between blood sisters. Yeah, I'm very much over the thrill I got in 10th grade because I'm scared that all of the above might be true.
