10 Movies Within Movies That Deserve A Standalone Release

6. Fake Purse Ninjas - Bowfinger

Bowfinger Movie
Universal

Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy battling a bunch of ninja counterfeiters against a factory backdrop? Fake Purse Ninjas practically pitches itself.

If you can excuse the irreverence of Troma proportions, Bowfinger's film within a film could be one of the most entertaining kung-fu pictures of the decade.

Dubious stereotyping aside, Fake Purse Ninjas manages to steal the show from under the nose of Bowfinger's other in-universe movie, the sci-fi thriller Chubby Rain.

Although the bogus movie - and indeed, the film it lives in - are nothing to be taken seriously, Fake Purse Ninjas is humorously well scored and choreographed, and features Christine Baranski as the most random-looking warlord you've ever seen.

Surely it deserves a feature-length cut for the latter reason alone.
