10 Movies You Had No Idea Joss Whedon Worked On

Joss Whedon was the first writer to be involved in Disney's cult-favourite sci-fi animated classic, earning him a writer's credit on the 2001 animated release.

Based on tales of the legendary city, the film is heavily stylistically influenced by popular comic book creator Mike Mignola, and the story blossomed from early works and scribbles by Whedon on an abandoned Disney project, Journey to the Center of the Earth. This project wasn't working out however, and so Whedon's work was then morphed into Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Whedon left the project early on in production to work on other Disney titles (more on this later) and past the early story drafts he had no further involvement. Because he was technically the first writer on the project, this earned him accreditation, however according to Whedon after he left, he had "not even a shred in it," and so feels this credit is a little undeserved.
