Ever since breaking into Hollywood as the X-Men's resident Wolverine back in 2000, it's fair to say that Hugh Jackman has starred in more than a few box office mega hits. Even putting his lucrative Logan exploits aside, the likes of Les Miserables, Van Helsing, The Greatest Showman, and Happy Feet have all financially benefited from the presence of the Jackman.

Yet, there is one feature, involving the star stepping into the world of robot boxing, which regularly finds itself overlooked when listing off the Australian's box office successes. We're talking of course about Real Steel. Here, Jackman portrays a former boxer-turned-bot-promoter who bonds with his son over a sparring robot. Mixing explosive action in with a rather absorbing plot, most people were pleasantly surprised by the experience once they'd taken in two hours of meaningful metal mashing.

Though the Oscar nominated Real Steel wasn't able to take home the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, and was ultimately forgotten about as Jackman and co-stars Evangeline Lily and Anthony Mackie moved onto bigger and better things, it still brought in an impressive near $300 million at the box office. Nearly tripling the film's budget did initially kickstart talks of a sequel a few years back, but director Shawn Levy has still yet to confirm if or when Real Steel 2 will ever actually become a thing.
