10 Movies You Won't Believe Are Already Getting The Remake Treatment

9. The Mummy

Mummy Granted, The Mummy itself is fourteen-years-old, but the latest sequel - subtitled Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - is still fresh in the memory of most movie-goers. Not because it was good or anything, but because it only came out in 2008. And although it's been five years, we were also promised a sequel at some point, which has gone out of the window entirely, apparently, because they've decided to just reboot this bad boy (much to the dismay of Brendan Fraiser, I imagine, who desperately needed the work). And guess who's at the helm? It's Len Wiseman! Yes, the man who made your dreams come true with that Total Recall remake is rebooting another movie franchise, one which was already in itself a sort of reboot of the original Universal franchise (the first movie of which featured Boris Karloff), and then there was the Hammer Horror series, of course. So, yeah, The Mummy has been resurrected now to the point that its title feels utterly prophetic, but in my book it feels way too soon. Although, at least they're changing things up a bit - The New Mummy will be set in the modern day and will be "more horror." Will It Suck? Len Wiseman is on directorial duties, so yes, it'll suck, though John Spaihts, who co-wrote Prometheus, has written the script. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
