7. American Psycho
American Psycho is just over a decade old as it stands, a period of time that might've warranted a remake or a re-imaging or something had this been a comic book or superhero franchise, but no, it's
American Psycho, a cult-ish movie of sorts, and definitely the only adaptation of the Brett Easton Ellis' iconic book that we're ever gonna need. And although things have gone a bit quiet ever since this thing was first announced back in 2011, it hasn't been officially abandoned yet, which leads us to believe that somebody, somewhere is still working on it. I'd guess that any remake of this movie would opt to update the action to the present, but that doesn't really make sense, given that the original novel (and the movie) was about a very specific kind of '80s yuppie, and you're losing a lot of context bringing it into the modern day. No real news as to who might star in what is bound to be a very, very pointless exercise in remaking, but it's been rumoured that it could be given to first-time director Noble Lincoln Jones, which is nice, isn't it? Why
wouldn't we want to see an inexperienced kid take this on?
Will It Suck? I doubt it will be made with the same satirical edge that made the original so popular. Also: Noble Lincoln Jones. I know it's wrong to judge people on their names, but c'mon!
