7. Reservoir Dogs

Please keep reading! I'm not talking out of my arse with this one, I promise. Just hear me out. Reservoir Dogs is one of the coolest films ever made (my opinion) and it is probably my favorite of Tarantino's. The boring explanation comes from the story behind the title, rather than the quality of the film. You may notice that the title is never mentioned by any character in the film. Tarantino himself admits that it bears no significance to the actual story line. The origins of the story come from the days Tarantino spent working in a video store. He would often recommend little-known titles to customers, and when he suggested 'Au revoir les Enfants', the customer to whom this film was recommended, misunderstood and replied, "I don't want to see no reservoir dogs!" For such a marvellous film where every event has an impact on the story, its hard to accept that the title is not a subtle reference or a 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge' to any aspect of pop culture or a metaphor for the fantastic characters. It was chosen solely on the bases that when the words 'reservoir' and 'dogs' are combined in a film title it looks like sex in a headline.
