10 Mysterious Or Bizarre Movie Titles With Disappointingly Boring Explanations
6. The Last Exorcism
I was intrigued, going into The Last Exorcism, as to what exactly, would make this the final demonic expulsion in cinema's history, as the title suggested. Unfortunately, the film's producers had the audacity to make such a claim without so much as a suggestion that they ended the very threat of demonic possession, therefore in my eyes, failing in its duty to deliver what the title suggested.
What we got instead of the 'be all and end all' of exorcist movies was an incredibly sub-standard, jarring hand-held camera flick that got through Hollywood on the back of recent successes like the Paranormal Activity franchise. It lacked neither the heart or realism of the Exorcism of Emily Rose or the quirkiness and originality of Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell and got so bogged down in its own conclusion that I doubt anyone could understand what actually happened. It wasn't a clever ending that got people talking... it was just stupid. And that 'The LAST Exorcism' can now have a sequel heading our way is beyond belief. 'Last Exorcism 2'? The biggest joke of a title going.
